Editor

Answers to common questions about the new GENCY Editor: auto-save and version history, where the removed Image and AI tabs went, how to undo mistakes, and how to check keyboard shortcuts — all at a glance. Also covers Fit bottom padding, which grows pages to fit their content, and inner alignment for groups.

The Editor looks new. What changed?

The Editor has a new look. The screen layout has been reorganized, and editing features such as auto-save, version history, groups, automatic spacing (Auto layout), layers, and dark mode have been added.
The product detail pages you were working on open just as before, and nothing you saved is lost.

You can see what changed in the update notes, and find detailed instructions in the Editing your product detail page guide.

I can't find the save button. How do I save?

The new Editor saves automatically. It saves 10 seconds after you stop working, and at least once every 3 minutes while you keep working. You can check the save status at the very top of the screen, shown as Saving · Saved.

To save manually, click [Menu] at the top left of the screen and choose [Save].

Can I go back to the previous Editor?

The previous Editor is no longer available. The new Editor fully replaces it.

Most existing features have simply moved. If you can't find a feature, check the Editing your product detail page guide first, and if you still can't find it, reach out via chat support.

The [Image] tab on the left is gone. Where do I edit photos?

Just click a photo on the edit screen. Photo editing — cropping, cutting out to a shape (masking), brightness and color adjustments — has moved to the panel that opens when you select a photo.

Uploading new photos, or replacing a photo already placed with a different one, is done in the [Upload] tab on the left.

Where did the AI copy suggestions (the AI tab) go?

They moved to the [AI Copywriting] button that appears when you click text on the edit screen. Describe the direction you want and AI writes new copy for you.

I changed something by mistake. Can I undo it?

There are two ways.

  • Undo your last action ㅣ click the undo button at the very top of the screen, or press Ctrl+Z (⌘Z on Mac).
  • Restore an earlier saved point ㅣ go to [Menu] → [Version history], pick a saved point, and roll back to how things were then.
Are there shortcuts for common actions?

You can see the full list under [Menu] → [View shortcuts]. Common actions have shortcuts, such as bold text (Ctrl+B), zooming in and out, and finding text. On Mac, use ⌘ instead of Ctrl.

The page got longer on its own. Why?

That's the new Editor's Fit bottom padding feature. When text or photos run past the bottom of a page, the page grows to fit the content the moment you drop an element or finish editing text. The bottom padding the page already had is kept.

If it grew when you didn't want it to, one Ctrl+Z (⌘Z on Mac) brings back both the text and the page height. If you don't need the feature, turn off the Fit bottom padding switch under [Menu] › Convenience features. It applies to your whole account.

For details, see the Fit bottom padding guide.

I want to set a page's bottom padding to an exact number.

Click the page and hover over its bottom edge to bring up the Auto ㅣ Padding [N] px control. Change the Padding number and press Enter, and the page is refitted right away. A value you enter applies to that page only and stays in use afterward. There is no way to apply it to several pages at once.

I changed the height by hand. How do I make the page grow automatically again?

A page whose height you dragged with the handle stops growing on its own. Click the page and hover over its bottom edge, and the control now reads Fit bottom ㅣ Padding [N] px. Click [Fit bottom] to fit the height to the content and return to automatic.

The page grew but the background photo didn't, leaving a white strip at the bottom.

A photo that fills the page like a background doesn't grow with the page. Drag the photo to stretch it, or match the page background color to the photo in the Page tab.

How do I center or bottom-align the photos and text inside a group?

Turn on [Auto layout] for the group, and a nine-cell Inner Alignment grid appears under Size and Alignment in the left panel. Pick one of the positions combining top, center or bottom with left, center or right.

A group is sized to its content by default, so nothing moves along the direction items are laid out. To see the alignment take effect, enter a Width or Height larger than the content. For details, see the Groups and auto layout guide.
